Have You or a Loved One Recently Completed Cancer Therapy Treatments?

The picture really caught you off guard.

It is not that you are not used to seeing an occasional social media post that updates a friend or relative’s status with their cancer battle, but this one was different. This was a picture of a high school classmate. Just as you are getting ready to plan a graduation for your oldest daughter as she begins her final semester of college, you saw the photo of someone the exact same age who is celebrating the end of his cancer treatment. The photo shows the young man ringing the bell which symbolizes the completion of the final treatment.

Just one more reminder of the continuing need for cancer treatment therapy research. As patients of all age continue to fight the biggest battle of their lives, it is no surprise that there is still a need for more work.

Advanced Cancer Treatment Therapy Research Remains a High Priority for Many
If you, or someone you love, has been struck with any kind of cancer then you likely understand the importance of finding new and improved treatments for this deadly disease. From pencil beam proton therapy that is used by prostate cancer specialists and in proton radiation therapy platforms for other forms of cancer, there is much progress that has been made. There is, however, more needed.

One of the biggest advantages to the targeted proton therapy methods is that the area that is affected can be limited. In fact, because of proton therapy’s targeted approach, research has found that prostate cancer patients treated using this method have a significantly reduced risk of impotence, with 94% of men reporting that they remain sexually active after treatment. A proton therapy treatment session generally takes 15 to 45 minutes; the actual time spent delivering the protons to the tumor, however, is generally only about a minute or two.
As the use of this therapy continues to expand, more than 30 particle therapy centers, with a total of about 80 treatment rooms, were under construction worldwide as of the year 2015.

The end of cancer treatment regime is, indeed, a reason to celebrate. The real celebration, however, will not come until this deadly disease is erased for good and no one needs to decide between the best cancer treatment center options.
